Industrial Engineering and Production Management Interview questions part 6

Here are some more questions about Industrial Engineering and production management. Actually Industrial Engineering are a part of Mechanical Engineering. That's why I'm posting these questions in this blog. Hope these questions will be helpful for any standard interview exam or viva.  I will post some more mechanical engineering questions very soon. More interesting topics of mechanical

Alignment Handout

Image
Factors Influencing Alignment procedure 1- Eccentricity (runout) Check · This might be done by a dial gauge 2- Baseplate of machines (soft-foot) · Machines feet must be mounted perfectly horizontal with the baseplate. · The contact between the baseplate and the feet can be checked with a set of shims or with feeler gages. · During a new installation, o it is essential to use accurate straight edges and levels to make sure that all feet of the machine are on the same plane. · The accepted tolerance level for these planes is usually 0.1 mm. · Simple tests for soft-foot are by setting up the dial gage (at fixed place) and place a shim under one front foot and the reading noted. · It is then removed and placed under the next front foot. The reading should be the same. · The same procedure must be repeated for the rear feet. 3- Axial position of machines · The axial position of shaft ends is referred to as the distance between shaft ends (DBSE). · Normally, most couplings allow a large tole...

Cooling System COOLING SYSTEM SCHEMATIC This diagram shows the basic cooling system. We can use it to see the components of the system and see how they are connected. In the diagram, we see the engine block, cylinder heads (separate heads for each cylinder), coolant manifold, housing of the temperature regulators (thermostats), water outlets bypass line from regulator housing to water pump, water pump, water inlet from radiator or heat exchanger, coolant line to the aftercooler, and the oil cooler. 1. water pump 2. oil cooler 3. cylinder heads 4. water manifold (right side) 5. aftercooler 6. temperature regulator housing 7. bypass line from regulator housing to water pump. COOLING SYSTEM FLOW Coolant flow comes from the elbow which is connected to the radiator or other heat exchanger into the center of the water pump. The cooler flow is divided at the outlet of the water pump. One partflows to the aftercooler; the other part to the oil cooler. Coolant sent to the aftercooler goes throu...

Condenser Classification – De-aeration of Condenser

What is Condenser  ?  The primary purpose of the condenser is to condense the exhaust steam from the turbine and thus recover the high-quality feedwater for reuse in the cycle. In order for a steam power station to operate an efficient-closed cycle, the condensing plant, cooling water (CW) system, and associated pumps must extract the maximum quantity of heat from the exhaust steam of the
