In SI method the unit of energy is Joule (J). 
In CGS unit dyne-cm (equals to 10-7) 
In British Unit - foot pound force  (ft-lbf) 

Other units are
British Thermal Unit (BTU)  1 BTU - 1055 Joule .
Kilowatt hour (kWh) 1 kWh = 3.6 x 106  J = 3.6 MJ.
